"Tron: Ares" Trailer is Out!

Video: Superman - Teaser Trailer - DC

The Trailer for "Tron:Ares" is just out! After what I considered a quite lackluster first sequel, "Tron Legacy," this trailer ACTUALLY gave me chills. Which is quite cool! I don't know why Jared Leto is in this, instead of Garrett Hedlund from the previous film, but who knows? Regardless, this could be a cool movie. We will see!

"Tron: Ares" will be released in theatres on October 10, 2025.

Mickey Mouse Horror Film Will Star "Terrifier" Actor

Article: Terrifier Star Sets Sail as Steamboat Willie in Disney-Inspired Horror Film Screamboat - MovieWeb

"Terrifier" star David Howard Thornton will play the lead in a new horror spoof based on Mickey Mouse of his "Steamboat Willie" era. The film will be called "Screamboat" and will be out next year. The producers are the same ones behind "Terrifier" and the Grinch horror spoof "The Mean One."

All of this is possbile because 100 years has passed since Mickey Mouse's debut in "Steamboat Willie," so the copyright has run out. This has allowed filmmakers to do whatever they want with that specific incarnation of Mickey Mouse. But that incarnation only. The rest of Mickey's appearances are still under active copyright and can't be touched. For now.

Disney De-Ages Actors with New Software

Article: Disney’s new neural network can change an actor’s age with ease - Ars Technica

Disney has developed a neural network to de-age actors with an automated process. The new AI technique, called Face Re-aging Network (FRAN), saves a lot of time. Previously, full scans of actors had to be made, and visual effects artists had to manually complete the process. Now, the new software can do it with far less effort.

"The Black Hole" Movie Revisited

Article: How Disney's 'Black Hole' Tried to Match 'Star Wars' - The Hollywood Reporter

A fascinating look at the troubled production of Disney's first PG-rated film, "The Black Hole." The push-pull that had to be made with the very conservative Disney to deliver an edgy science-fiction film is chronicled in this article. A good read!

New "Rise of Skywalker" Clip

Movie Clip: Rise of Skywalker - Disney

New clip from "The Rise of Skywalker." Just 30 seconds of an action sequence, no spoilers.

The key thing for me: The first listen to John Williams' score, which is, by far, the main reason I will go see it.

Disney's "Star Wars" Are Fan Fiction

Today, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" has been released on video. So, today I wanted to state my case regarding these new movies:

These Disney "Star Wars" movies are Fan Fiction. They are not "canon." George Lucas was completely involved with every aspect of the previous six "Star Wars" movies. Here, he has zero involvement. So, I consider them no different than if someone was just posting blog entries with their story ideas.

Fans really need to just divorce themselves from the thought that these new movies are "official" in any way. They are products of a business transaction. It's the same as Hostess, which was bought out by other people. And, the snacks, even though they have the same name and packaging, don't taste anywhere near as good as they used to. Disney just bought the ability to put "Star Wars" on whatever they wanted, and they have.

We can now see what an incredibly terrible decision that George Lucas made by selling all of Lucasfilm to Disney with zero conditions. Since Michael Eisner, Disney has been purely focused on profit, not creativity. Their only focus is to take a property and squeeze every dime out of it. That is what they are doing with "Star Wars." It is deeply unfortunate what has happened.

But, "Star Wars" fans have to make it known that they don't accept what Disney has done as "canon," "official," or whatever. Because it isn't. A deal was made, contracts were signed, product was produced. That isn't creativity, it's just business.

First reviews are out for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi." has an early premiere at 7 p.m. on Thursday, then goes into regular release on Friday.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" First Reactions

Article: 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' - First Reactions from the Premiere - Hollywood Reporter

Article: ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ First Reactions: ‘Jam-Packed,’ ‘Exciting’ - Variety

Disney held the premiere of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" on Saturday night in Los Angeles. And, like for "Force Awakens," celebrities and media folks were invited.

Their reactions were glowing. I'm not surprised, because, if you are being invited by Disney to an exclusive premiere of one of the largest releases of the decade, honestly, what else are you going to say? Many of us will have seen for ourselves by this time next week.

The review embargo ends at 9 a.m. Tuesday. So, first media reviews will be out then. That's earlier than I thought. Of course, I'm still not going to read a single one of them, since I see the movie at 7 p.m. on Thursday. :-)

"Last Jedi" Display Teases Dark Side Luke

Full Image: "Last Jedi" Display Teases Dark Side Luke - flickr

A new cardboard display being used in theaters shows two Lukes: One light side, one dark side.

Since the movie is so close to coming out, I skipped watching the new trailer. But, my guess is that Disney is teasing us with a potential Dark Side Luke. :-)

Trevorrow Out as Star Wars Director

Article: Colin Trevorrow Out as 'Star Wars: Episode IX' Director - Hollywood Reporter

Article: Why Do 'Star Wars' Films Keep Losing Directors? - Hollywood Reporter

Colin Trevorrow is out as director of "Star Wars: Episode IX."

It is being called a "mutual decision." But, time will tell what the real story is. No replacement named as of yet.

This marks the third shake-up in the director's chair for a Disney-released "Star Wars" movie. "Rogue One" saw Gareth Edwards put to the side when Tony Gilroy took over reshoots and final edit. And, the Han Solo film saw its directors let go, with Ron Howard replacing them.

Ron Howard Takes Over Han Solo Movie

Article: Ron Howard Steps In to Direct Han Solo Movie - Hollywood Reporter

Article: Ron Howard to Take Over as Director of ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Spinoff - Variety

Ron Howard becomes Kathleen Kennedy's latest sub! His docudramas are great! (“Apollo 13,” “Rush”). His other movies? Not so much. I’m sure that it’s Empress Kathleen Kennedy’s hope that Howard is scared of “strong women” and heels to the Corporate Mistress that is her Lucasfilm (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney). :-)

Han Solo Film Losing Its Directors

Article: 'Star Wars': Han Solo Film Loses Directors - Hollywood Reporter

Article: ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Spinoff: Lord & Miller Fired After Clashing With Kathleen Kennedy - Variety

UPDATED - Read what cost directors Lord and Miller their jobs: ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Spinoff: Lord & Miller Fired After Clashing With Kathleen Kennedy

I shouldn't be surprised! But, there is trouble on a "Star Wars" prequel AGAIN! Just like the Directors' Chair changes on “Rogue One,” now there will be another director change on another "Star Wars" prequel. This time, the directors of the untitled Han Solo prequel are leaving due to “creative differences.” And, I am guessing that means, they don't want to follow Kathleen Kennedy's orders.

Will the film still turn out well like "Rogue One" did, or what? We will have to wait a year to see.
