Artificial Intelligence Music Companies Get Sued

Artificial Intelligence Music could be taking a hit as Suno and Udio, two leading AI music startups that make tools to generate complete songs from a prompt in seconds, were sued by major record labels. Sony Music, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group claim the companies made use of copyrighted music in their training data “at an almost unimaginable scale,” allowing the AI models to generate songs that “imitate the qualities of genuine human sound recordings.”

What effect this will have on AI Music is left to be seen. But, as in many legal actions like this, it could essentially serve as a way to leverage an agreeement with the AI Music companies on licensing fees.

"Godzilla Minus One," the first Toho kaiju film to win an Academy Award, will begin streaming on Netflix in the United States at 12 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, June 1. The movie just released on Netflix in Asian territories, as well as on Blu-ray in Japan. Netflix has confirmed the streaming date and time with a simple image of Godzilla from the new movie with the date and time.

The film debuted on December 1, 2023, so the date of June 1, 2024 fits into the contractural restrictions on when it would be allowed to stream in the U.S.

Sign ups to be considered for initial access are available at their site: Showrunner.xyz. Once the site is available, users will be able to watch the AI creations of others and even add their own. Their ambitions are high, we will see how they turn out!

A lot has been made over a voice in the new ChatGPT-4o that critics assert is a "clone" of actress Scarlett Johansson. But, records clearly show that the voice belongs to another actress hired specifically to create the voice heard.

The casting call for the actors used in the new version of ChatGPT specified "The actors should be nonunion. They should sound between 25 and 45 years old. And their voices should be warm, engaging [and] charismatic.” There was, however, no mention of any actor needing to bear a resemblance to Johanssen.

I think that this is about people considering the new technology to bear a resemblance to the film "Her," where Johnannsen played a more emotional personal assistant. I think that people simply wanted to read Johansson into whatever voice they then heard from ChatGPT-4o.

I can't imagine WHO would want this, but Microsoft is designing its new PC's to have an Artificial Intelligence that remembers everything you do. That makes it easy for me to instantly say "No" to getting one of those!

The new Windows Recall feature will enable the AI assistant to “access virtually what you have seen or done on your PC in a way that feels like having photographic memory.” Again, no thanks, Microsoft.

"Horizon, An American Saga," directed by and starring Kevin Costner, has premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. With that, the first reviews are out. And, above, you can click on the reviews from both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. While this is Part 1 of two parts, both publications were underwhelmed by what they saw.

Variety says it is unfocused, jumping around too many storylines and that it seems more like a set-up for a TV miniseries. The Hollywood Reporter also said that this feels like a miniseries that got repackaged as a theatrical film. They also echoed what Variety said in that the film seems to have too much extraneous material.

YouTube Trying to Make Ads Unskippable

The ads on YouTube are INSANE! I get it that they're trying to force them on people any way they can. But, I think that more people are just going to stop watching instead of sitting through them. But, YouTube is trying to find ways to make people sit through them, no matter what. It's fine having a few ads, but when you get three minutes of ads in an eight-minute video, that is just crazy.
