Restaurant Review - The Germantown Commissary - Germantown, TN
Location: 2290 S Germantown Rd, Germantown, TN 38138
Great Food, Poor Service
Yes, the BBQ at The Commissary is the best in Memphis! That is for certain. Their ribs are as perfect as they could be. Their tamales are also excellent.
Then, there's the issue of actually having a meal there. That's where the problem is. You sit down in the cramped shotgun-shaped area with chairs smack up against each other. The waitress comes over and wants your order before you even look at the menu. Plus, she wants you to order an appetizer. The trick is that, if you do order one, you get it with your entree, pretty much thrown at you.
Very unpleasant, plus the food is lukewarm. Their whole objective is to get you in and get you out as quickly as possible. Even though it wasn't busy at the time.
Food: Five Stars / Service: Zero Stars
Bottom Line: Get the food for take out and heat it up when you get home.

Ground Zero Blues Club - Clarksdale, MS
Location: 252 Delta Ave, Clarksdale, MS 38614
Great Blues Club!
To note, I am always glad to support Morgan Freeman in all his endeavors, 'cause Lord knows he needs the money! :-)
Ground Zero is a great blues club in the very center of the world's blues scene. Because of its notoriety, you are going to get the traditional, electrified acts. So, if you are looking for the earthier type acts, you are not as likely to find them here. For that, best to come to each April's Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale, and see the sidewalk acts!
The atmosphere is decidedly roughed up, but that is the idea! Lots of graffiti, bare metal, wood, that kind of thing. The food is fine, fairly straight forward, and the service is serviceable. :-)

Restaurant Review - Chili's - Olive Branch, MS

Dinner Disaster!
This Chili's is in real need of leadership, and in need of structure. While some of the servers seemed to be okay, mine wasn't! Just a guy who seemed lost, didn't know the menu at all, and didn't know how to put an order into the kitchen.
It took one very extensive hour to get food, and it wasn't good when it arrived! The steak was overdone, the potatoes cold, and the broccoli seriously wilted. It took a while to get a manager, in this case, April. When she did arrive, I was able to get replacements for the potatoes and the broccoli.
The server had said that our ticket wasn't entered by the kitchen, but I am pretty sure it was by him. After the meal was finally over, I tried to get the manager again, but had to wait 15 or more minutes. When she did arrive, she comped the meal, and had said that she meant that earlier when she said she would "take care of it." I had thought she meant that she would take care of fixing the meal, not the check.
It was good that she did, but it was certainly too late! The food was okay when the right version came, but certainly not until then. And, this wasn't a day where I was in the mood for thoroughly bad service and mediocre food.
Avoid!

Restaurant Review - Panera Bread - Cordova, TN
Location: 714 Germantown Parkway, Cordova, TN 38018
Reasonable Coffee Bar
I had been wanting to stop here for a while. But, it always seemed like I got there too late! When I did get there when they were open, I got there when a particularly agitated woman was going on and on about the exact way her tea was to be prepared. Lord!
After that finally ended, I was able to get my Cafe au Lait. It was fine, pretty straight forward. They serve it with a small chocolate bar, which is nice. I would consider the coffee average, the service a bit scattered, and the atmosphere average.
