The Cassini mission to Saturn is coming to an end. By tomorrow at this time, the probe will have entered the atmosphere of Saturn and will be gone for good.

The first launch of the new NASA Orion spacecraft is this Thursday! Orion is now in place on top of the Delta IV heavy-lift rocket on the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center.

Exploration Flight Test-1 (EFT-1) will test Orion's systems and performance from launch through splashdown. Launch Time is 7:05 a.m. EST from Space Launch Complex 37, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The Launch Window will last 2 hours, 39 minutes.

I leave for Houston today, and will be at Johnson Space Center in Houston for the NASA Social event for the launch on December 3 and 4. I will post updates on my blog, Twitter and more!

NASA Orion Does Reddit!

AMA: NASA Orion - Reddit

NASA has taken to many Social Media platforms to tell people about the Orion Spacecraft Program. Yesterday, they used a Reddit AMA to do it. AMA's are subreddits where people can "Ask Me Anything." Nine Orion experts made themselves available to answer user's questions.

The AMA is complete, and you can read through the many questions and answers that were asked. The event was very popular, and I am sure there will be more!

Article: NASA’s Orion Spacecraft Complete; Media Invited to Learn More about Its First Flight - NASA

NASA's first Orion spacecraft is complete! On October 30, the final touches to the craft were completed at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. On November 10, Orion will be rolled out to Launch Complex 37. The launch takes place on December 4.

Media have been invited to attend an event detailing the December launch. This will happen this Thursday, November 6 at 11 a.m. EST. The Press Conference will be broadcast live on NASA TV.

ESA, the European Space Agency, is about to launch two of its Galileo Satellites. They will provide Europe with global positioning capability that will be interoperable with The United States GPS system.

This launch will take Galileo 5 and Galileo 6 into orbit from Kourou, French Guiana. Launch is at 12:27:11 UTC/14:27:11 CEST. That will be 8:27 a.m. EST in The United States.
