For instance, if every Google search used Generative AI, that could require the same amount of electricty as used by all of Ireland. That addition of Generative AI means a tenfold requirement in electicity. However, the efficiency of AI is also on the rise, with the training of AI models having become as much as 100 times easier, meaning a similar reduction in the electricity needed.
