But, the existence of a series of tape-recorded interviews has made knowing Kubrick more possible. They were conducted by Michel Ciment, the French film critic and editor of Positif, over the course of 20 years. And, the new documentary "Kubrick by Kubrick" makes those interviews the basis for the film.
